Learn Something New at This One-of-a-Kind Art Class
There are myriads of ways to decorate your pottery that go beyond commercial or studio-made glazes. This eight-week course (no class on Sunday, March 26 -- NCECA is that week) will cover a great number of them, with each week offering several different techniques for attendees to try on supplied tiles or their own pieces.
Learn the best way to make colored slip and all the different ways to use it. Play with stencils and silkscreens. Use newspaper, cold wax, and varnish as resists. Sgraffito. Carving. Mishima. Nerikomi. And on and on and on.
The studio will supply the tools you need for each class, but we will also suggest what you can purchase before each class so you can continue using the techniques you've learned in your own studio space once class has ended. Firing finished pieces is not included in the cost of the class, Alamo City Pottery Workshop can fire pieces you want to keep for a nominal fee.
The class is limited to ten participants, so be sure to sign up soon to reserve your place. Single day attendance will be available, depending on available spaces. Contact April Grunspan, studio owner/manager, if this is something you're interested in.
Although we provide the utmost luxury at Westlake Villas Apartments in San Antonio, Texas, we realize that you need to get out and socialize with those in your surrounding community. This event gives you the chance to do just that! Don’t hesitate to attend today!
